Google the Beast Part1
Part 2
Well I am sure beginning to think so, recently my google adwords account was suspended, now bear in mind I hadn’t run a campaign in months when this took place.
I recieved an email from google informing me that a site I had was in violation of their policies and as a result they had suspended my account. the site in question was nothing more than an html page that sold an e-book on muscle building routines and health.
this site they stated was in violation because they no longer allowed sites in particular categories to take part in google adword advertising. I promptly replied informing them I hadn’t run a campaign in months and it had even been longer for that site, also I am unable to remove the offending site from adwords.
The reply I received informed me that my account had been reinstated, also that google will do a human review of any site that you have in your adword profile even if it is not an active campaign, further more if I promised never to run ads to this site again they would re instate.
Two months latter I decided to start a new campaign and my account was reinstated, I spent hours writing ads and keyword selection then added them all to my adword account, three days latter i check the account to see if i had any clicks only to find that none of my ads where running.
All the ads were eligible and so were the keywords, but no ads were actively running and the message said you may have just added a new keyword and to give it time, so waited another two business days and still no Ads, it was at this point I cancelled the adwords account and requested a refund.
These stories are becoming far to common across the net, and google feels people are to stupid to make wise decisions before buying and have shut down any site it feels is in a shaky category. to me this is as bad as a communist country, the search provider must decide for you what your really looking for and whether its suitable for your viewing based upon your perceived lack of wisdom.
Following the actions of another Internet marketer, I have since taken any reference to my sites out of google services, such as analytics, webmaster tools, etc. if I could get away clean I would because the more invested in their services you are, the more they know about you and not limited to your search preferences, sites visited, the good the bad the ugly, the emails you have received and the chats you have under taken on google chat.
This really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I now hope for google to lose its market share of traffic, and let the others be warned, we wont use you either if you start the same tatics, one last thought, before you jump into the latest buzzz, cloud computing, just remember this, do you really want all your business and data on their servers?
I think not……. or so it seems to me Chris
Wow it has been a busy summer, with winter aproaching its time to start getting ready to kick back into high gear.
Its a whole new buying season coming up almost to quick to get ready, but get ready we must, internet marketing is a real job that sometime ya just dont have time for, it take real dedication and a lot of time.
if anyone is telling you different, they be lieing, time and money are important, the days of get rich quick are over and I am not sure they really ever existed, if your looking to start intermerketing, then this site will help you get started.
To start, you must have and idea, then reasearch it, if it checks out then implement the marketing, most people are looking for a way to instantly make money and that just doesnt happen, no program I am aware of will ever do that, no matter what you pay for it.
Save your money and start small, good things can happen if you have a little money to put into the marketing aspect, ie google ad words and the like, avoid the hype many marketers are looking for you and they want you to become a steady source of income for them.. save time and money by avoiding the urge to buy every quicky program out there.
thats all for now, I must get moving and make hay while the sun shines…
One of the most important steps in beginning a website, aside from the keyword research is choosing the domain name, many people feel this is nothing more than simple naming your store or site but I assure you this step is as important as the keywords themselves and will determine how quickly your site appears for at least one of your keywords.
Don’t choose your domain by whether it’s cute or catchy, this is a big mistake, your domain name should literally be as close to your main keyword as possible, by that i mean if my keyword was “new golf clubs” then I would need a domain such as “newgolfclubs.com”, most likely that wouldn’t be available but if it is that would be my first choice. If not then i would default to “newgolfclubs.org”, not .net and never .info etc.
If none of that was available, then i try and add something to the domain, like hub or z, something short and sweet, I never go with a hyphenated domain, they just are a bit much for me, even though I see them recommended by others, they do work but not nearly as good… so my resultant domain may be “newgolfclubshub.com” the idea is to keep that keyword intact.
Take a look in google for any keyword and you will most times see the actaul keyword in the domain in the first couple slots, you can always get any domain to rank with enough effort, but having your main keyword in the domain will make it happen months faster and with little to no effort.
If you just cant find the .com or .org “google likes these” then move to your next keyword and see if you can find one for that… take this site your looking at, this is my catchy business name site, but it ranks horrible, one its Internet marketing witch if you can avoid don’t make your niche around it, the competition is horrible and the guys holding the rank have millions and people who keep them there, so this site has little or no value without social marketing and doesn’t appear to often in google for any useful keyword.
I have other sites that i made this critical mistake on and they just sit there doing little or nothing, so make this decision right the first time and you may see your site in the google serps withing days, I just put one up a week ago to sell my new plug ins and its ranking already…I cant stress this enough, and having helped so many people build sites, this is the one area every newbie misses the boat on.
Just to recap, make your domain the actual non hyphenated keyword ending in .com or .org, you can add any nonsensical short phrase to the end but only if you have to……happy websites Chris
